When Jonathon Leger's eBook "$7 Secrets" and the script that goes with it were released a few months ago, it caused quite a stir. Since then the concept has become VERY popular, with many marketers using the script to offer their own $7 products (and other price points), with 100% commission customer-only afiliate programs.

In that time, I've promoted a number of those products, mainly because I felt the product being offered could be helpful to you. There are a couple that I heard about but didn't recommend to you because they were just not up to par, a waste of money.

Anyway, over the last couple of weeks, you may have seen some of the stories floating around about PayPal closing down these types of sites, even suspending people's PayPal accounts, and been concerned about the risk to your PayPal account.

Well, the good news is we now know why there was a problem and that it really only effected the site owners and their PayPal accounts.

The affiliates who were promoting the offers were only effected by the sites going down, meaning the affiliates couldn't get sales.

The affiliates' PayPal accounts were not at risk.

Basically there were two separate issues that PayPal didn't like about some of these sites.

First up, while the 100% commission affiliate program is usually meant as an "incentive bonus", some of PayPal's compliance personnel MISTAKENLY viewed it as selling "an opportunity", rather than a product - similar to a pyramid scam. And that's against their Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).

I guess it didn't help that some site owners were really emphasizing the affiliate program, so much so that it seemed to be the most important part of the offer and the product was immaterial.

Secondly, some of the sites require purchasers to opt in to an email list before they could recieve their purchase, which I understand does violate their AUP. You can have an opt-in after the sale if it's optional, but you can't require someone to opt in to claim their purchase.

There is a suggestion that it may be OK if it's mentioned on the sales letter that they'll need to register to recieve their copy. But I'm not sure about that one at this stage, so I'd suggest that any opt in be optional.

Most people who have created these offers are now aware of the situation and are amending their sites accordingly (if they haven't already done so).

So, I'm confident it's fine to purchase these products and to participate in the affiliate programs.
