Michael here. Welcome to the latest issue of "e-BizResources Update". I hope you're well.
There's a ton of stuff here for you again today.
As you read through this issue, you'll probably notice a bit of a common theme - promotion and traffic. I'd like to say it was intentional but ... ;0)
I guess web traffic is one of the main concerns of most web masters. We're all looking for more visitors to our web sites.
This week a friend (and subscriber) wrote me about a number of things related to a new niche site they're developing. One of the questions was related to traffic.
They were wondering about blog(s) and RSS to generate traffic from the search engines. There has been a lot of buzz lately about those two terms and how effective they can be for getting you noticed quickly by the search engines and so creating traffic. So, you'd be crazy not to use one or both of them in your mix nowadays.
On the other hand, you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. (promotional eggs, that is) Or you may end up becoming a basket case! (I know it's a weak joke, but I couldn't help myself ;0))
So, don't forget about the classics! Linking strategies and joint ventures. We can look into joint ventures in more detail another time, but I'd like to talk a little about linking stategies.
In spite of all the 'new' techniques and strategies, a good linking strategy still works wonders - including writing & submitting articles with other sites catering to your target market.
Incoming links help in two ways.
A lot of sites still get a majority of their traffic direct from incoming links. These are a great source of long-term traffic because they're not subject to the changing whims of the search engines.
But the added bonus is that those incoming links will also help your page rank on the search engines, though how much can vary a lot according to their policy at the time, but it will help.
And while the search engines won't reveal exactly how their rankings work, it seems that one-way incoming links are the strongest. That is, links pointing to your website without you having to reciprocate. That's where writing articles comes in, and even testimonials to a degree.
The second guest article here goes into this in more detail and probably better than I ever could, so I won't steal Jason's thunder.

2. Guest Article #1How To Produce The PERFECT Viral Ebook
by Harvey Segal
Viral marketing is probably the number one method for generating traffic and sales - IF it is set up properly.
Take the case of a viral ebook - which means a book that can be passed from one person to another bringing benefits (profits) for each party in turn.
How is this achieved?
The basic concept is that the book contains links to affiliate products. When a reader of the book makes a purchase from a link then the affiliate receives the
commission.
The creator of such a book will allow some of the links to be 'rebranded' which means a person (who we will refer to as the rebrander) can replace them with his own affiliate codes thus collecting commission. This is the obvious incentive for him to pass the book around and begin the viral progression.
If we want to maximize the benefits for everyone and create the perfect viral ebook we need to have THREE key factors in place.
1) Wide DistributionThere are many permutations in the ways that you can offer an ebook. It can be free or paid, and for either option you can charge for rebranding or offer it free; plus you can have part customization or full customization. On top of that, for a paid book you can offer resale rights and even the right to grant resale rights.
Let's keep it simple.
What we want is the widest possible distribution so that we get the most commission from the affiliate links.
So we will have a FREE book and FREE rebranding rights.
2) Quality Affiliate LinksIt goes without saying that your book should contain good content on a topic of interest.
But will readers click on those affiliate links?
The answer is 'NO' if you copy the poor example of many authors, for instance:
- have you ever opened an ebook and been faced with a barrage of affiliate links?
- or seen affiliate products which have nothing to do with the theme of the book? For example in a book about hypnotism you get a link to a web hosting company.
So what is the best way?
The secret is to have highly relevant links and weave them naturally into the content in a low key style without appearing to push for a sale. So when you discuss a particular topic and want to show where more detail can be found, or how a particular problem can be solved, that's where you can mention the affiliate product as a source of further information. If you want to see really good examples of how to do this read the free book at the end of this article.
See - that last sentence was an ACTUAL working example of how to weave in a link.
3) Maximum Return For Both PartiesYou need to get the rebranding balance right.
If you give away an ebook and allow all the affiliate links to be rebranded that is a great deal for the rebrander - but what do you get out of it? No affiliate commission, just subscribers maybe for your mailing list if you have a sign-up form in the book.
Conversely if you hand out only a few affiliate links for rebranding then that provides little incentive for the rebrander to distribute the book.
Ideally what you want is the maximum motivation for your rebrander which would be * to allow free rebranding * to allow ALL the links to be rebranded but in a way that you can still benefit.
Can that be possible?
Fortunately it is, using any of 3 different methods
* if the links in the book are for your own products
* If the links are for products for which you have resale rights
* If the links are for 2-tier affiliate programs so that you collect the 2nd tier commission when a rebrander, who has signed up under you, makes a sale.
And so, if you use these techniques you can begin a viral marketing campaign which will continue to generate traffic and sales with little on-going effort on your part.
EXCEPT for two issues we need to resolve
1) What happens if everyone rebrands the book and only makes purchases from their own copy?
Well, I have found that in practise only a minority (say 10%) will take the time to rebrand a book which means that the majority (90%) will be reading your book and purchasing from YOUR links.
So there's no problem here.
2) Suppose you plan to produce a viral book. It's about a popular topic - so it's bound to have a wide circulation - but you can't find any of the three types of suitable links to put in the book, i.e. links to a product of your own, to products with resale rights or for 2-tier affiliate programs.
Is there a solution?
There is and you can find out the answer in my book
"101 SuperTips" - it's actually tip 100.
As you might expect this book is free, with valuable information linking to highly relevant products, and you can rebrand it, again for free.
By all the rules above it's a candidate, I hope you agree, for 'the perfect viral ebook' and a profitable source of revenue for you.

10. Guest Article #2A Simple Secret To Seducing The Search Engines.By Jason Potash
In the Internet Marketing community, "traffic" and search engine mastery are hot topics these days...
People will do almost ANYTHING just to get their site indexed by Google faster... to boost their Page Rank quicker... to drive more traffic immediately... and to get
a ton of incoming links to their website right away...
Yes, even if it involves handing over $137 for the latest push-button traffic software or search engine trick.
Why all the fuss?
In this article, I'm going to reveal to you a simple, no cost way to make the search engines crawl all over your website like ants on a melted popsicle.
PLUS... you will start to get laser-targeted traffic and boost your search engine rankings almost instantly. Not to mention, you'll have (at least) 100 quality links back to your website within a week.
And this doesn't involve any SEO hocus-pocus, buying into some new "killer" traffic booster software, or trying out the latest scheme to fool Google, Yahoo, or MSN.
Nope. This stuff is 100% legit, above-board, and has already worked for years.
Let me give you a quick example. Recently I created a little "test" website.
The search engines didn't know about it. It had no incoming links. No traffic. No SE rankings...ZIP!
Fast forward 7 days... My website was indexed by Google, Yahoo and MSN, it got well over 200 incoming links and started to generate traffic... shortly thereafter, Google
granted my site a Page Rank 3.
Again, this did not cost a penny, just a few hours of my time. I created a play-by-play video that shows the website and how I did it (see the weblink below).
Here's another example: An "average guy" decided to try this same strategy. He now has #1-#8 rankings on all the major search engines. You can listen to him explain
how de did it during a recent audio interview:
Interview(Note: After you click above, look under the "June 20th" post and click the MP3 audio link and video link on the site. Or download it here:
Download Interview)
So, how can you get these same kind of results?
I wish I could make this sound more complicated but, all that you need to do is simply submit one article to a handful of Article Directories.
Writing and submitting articles has long been a proven, time-tested strategy for increasing traffic, subscribers and sales.
But now in 2005, articles have re-emerged in a BIG way, thanks to recent information leaked by Google within their US Patent Application 20050071741.
We now know that quality content and incoming links are essential (now, more than ever) to the survival of your websites within the search engines.
Bottom line. You need to start creating and submitting articles to get all the benefits I just outlined above.
In fact, Google is practically telling you to do so!
But, where do you start? Where should you submit your articles?
Here's a blueprint that outlines the 7 keys to writing successful articles.
Follow these 7 keys and you are guaranteed to get more traffic, more incoming links and higher search engine rankings and page rank, by simply distributing your
articles across the Internet.
Let's get started.
Key #1: Choose a HOT TopicYou'll need to do a little research on this one. If you are already familiar with the target market for your article, this should come easy. Research, spy, observe. Do
whatever it takes to understand your target market. What issues are hot? What topics currently appear within top ezines, messageboards, ebooks? What keywords are they
using to search online?
It's also a good idea to frequently visit article directories and content sites. These sites contain current articles on a variety of popular topics. Often, you can
view the most popular article topics (or clicks) as well.
Here's a short list of article directories:
eZineArticles.comcertificate.net/wwioIdeaMarketers.comGoArticles.comNetterWeb.comJogena.comKey #2: Choose a "Magnetic" TitleMagnetic title? That's right. Your article title is your headline. If it doesn't pull the reader into the article, nothing will. Just think ... what if I called this
article:
"Get More Traffic In The Search Engines", "Easy Search Engine Tips", or "Free Traffic Generation Strategies".
BLAH! See what I mean? These don't pack much "punch", do they?
Your title is just like a classified ad. Look at it this way. If your article title is crowded on a webpage with 100 others, what will make it jump off the page?
Key #3: Use The AIDA PrincipleAttention Interest Desire Action
This universal formula applies to your articles as well. Once you've enticed your reader to read your article (via a great title), you need to keep them reading.
The first paragraph of your article is critical. If it's dull, boring and lifeless, your reader will surely bail out. You must keep their interest right from the start.
Try using short paragraphs, sentences and words. This will keep the tempo upbeat and make your article much easier to read (or skim, as most do online).
Key #4: Create Several Sub-HeadingsTo better organize your thoughts, divide your article into sub-headings. At times, writing a 500-700 word article can seem insurmountable. Sub-headings make things easier. Instead of tackling the entire article at once, try writing one paragraph at a time.
Key #5: "Close The Sale" With A Resource BoxOne of the worst things you can do is to leave your reader hanging. They've just read your great article, now what? A resource box appears at the very end of your article. It's the last line that your reader sees. It's your chance to set the next step.
Make sure that your resource box is compelling. Make the reader jump over to your website, sign up for your ezine, download your latest ebook, claim their free
gift -- get creative!
Also, the resource box allows you to include a direct link back to your website. Sit back and watch your link popularity soar!
Key #6: Poofread Your WorkDid you catch that? It should have read, "Proofread".
Nothing hollers out amateur, newbie, or just plain unprofessional than an article filled with typos and bad grammar. If you don't have an English major in the family,
hire a proofreader. Their rates are reasonable and they can save you from damaging your reputation online.
Key #7 - Promote, promote, promoteLet's make one thing clear. Without key #7, keys 1-6 are a waste of time. Bottom line, no one will read your article if you keep it stored on a floppy disk in your desk.
You've got to promote it!
How can you promote your article? There are close to 90 article directories, article banks, free content sites, article announcement lists, and article syndication
services out there. And the best part is ... 95% of them are FREE!
Plus, there are thousands of ezines, websites and blogs that are looking for article submissions. Develop a list of contacts in your target market. Next, e-mail each ezine publisher, blog owner, or webmaster a copy of your latest article. There are countless stories of individuals who have succeeded using this exact same approach.
Wouldn't you like to get your next article picked up by an ezine with 32,000 subscribers or have 8,000 websites visitors view your article tomorrow?
Now go on, and get writing!

11. An acknowledgement and thanks. Finally, I'd like to mention Eva Browne-Paterson, whose ezine (
EvieB's New-Z) I subscribe to.
As well as plenty of good content, and obvious personality, her ezine usually contains at least a couple of competitions. I recently won a free flash banner, which she finished and sent me within a day.
She also did me the unexpected favour of designing something else for my site too!
I'd like to repay the kindness by recommending you check out her ezine and sign up soon.
